Privacy Policy
EFFECTIVE DATE: July 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how StudyPanel ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the StudyPanel mobile application (the "App"). By using the App you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
(a) INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE. When you use the App you may voluntarily provide profile information used to match you to studies, including your gender, age, U.S. state or region, health conditions (e.g. "Anxiety," "Diabetes"), and lifestyle attributes (e.g. "Pet owner," "Nicotine user"). Providing this information is optional; you can skip or edit any field. You may also enter or update this information at any time in Settings → Edit profile.
(b) ACCOUNT INFORMATION. If you sign in with Apple, we receive from Apple a stable user identifier and, only on your first sign-in and only if you choose to share it, your name and email address. If you use Apple's Hide My Email feature, we receive only the anonymized relay address. We do not store your Apple password.
(c) ACTIVITY. We store on your device, and may sync to our backend, a list of studies you have bookmarked or applied to, and app preferences.
(d) TECHNICAL DATA. We may collect basic technical data automatically, such as device model, iOS version, App version, crash logs, and non-precise diagnostic information. We do not collect precise location.
(e) PAYMENTS. Purchases are processed by Apple. We do not receive or store credit-card numbers, bank account details, or Apple ID passwords.
2. HEALTH-RELATED INFORMATION
The health conditions you optionally select in your profile are self-reported preference tags used to match you to relevant study listings. They are NOT medical records and StudyPanel is NOT a HIPAA-covered entity or a healthcare provider. You control whether to provide any health-related information; you can leave every condition unchecked. If you choose to share health information with any study operator through the App, that sharing is between you and them and is governed by their privacy policy, not this one.
3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use the information we collect to:
(a) operate, maintain, and improve the App;
(b) match study listings to your profile and surface a "Recommended" ranking;
(c) authenticate you and remember your saved and applied studies;
(d) provide customer support and respond to your requests;
(e) detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms;
(f) comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your information to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
4. HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with advertisers. We share information only in the limited circumstances described below.
(a) SERVICE PROVIDERS. We use trusted third-party service providers to host our backend infrastructure, store data, and deliver the App. These providers include, currently: Apple (App Store, Sign in with Apple, StoreKit), and Supabase (database hosting). These providers process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
(b) PUBLIC STUDY SOURCES. Study listings are aggregated from public sources such as ClinicalTrials.gov. We do not share your profile with these sources.
(c) WHEN YOU APPLY. When you tap "Apply" on a listing, you are directed to the study operator's own site, phone number, or email. Whatever you then share with them is governed by their privacy policy, not ours.
(d) LEGAL. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of StudyPanel, our users, or the public.
(e) BUSINESS TRANSFERS. If StudyPanel is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
5. DATA RETENTION
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by writing to jakub.zitko@icloud.com.
6. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information: to access, correct, delete, port, restrict, or object to processing, and to withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent). To exercise these rights, contact us at jakub.zitko@icloud.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
California residents: In accordance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA. You may designate an authorized agent to make requests on your behalf.
Users in the EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland: The legal basis for our processing is (i) your consent for optional profile information, (ii) the performance of a contract with you for authentication and subscription management, and (iii) our legitimate interests in operating and securing the App. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
7. CHILDREN
The App is not directed to children and is not intended for use by anyone under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected information from a child, we will delete it. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact jakub.zitko@icloud.com.
8. SECURITY
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No method of transmission over the internet or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
We are based in the United States. If you access the App from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Where required by law, we implement appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses for cross-border transfers.
10. TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES AND ANALYTICS
The App uses standard iOS diagnostic tooling for crash reporting and App Store analytics provided by Apple. The App does not use third-party ad networks, does not fingerprint your device, and does not request access to the App Tracking Transparency identifier (IDFA) for advertising purposes.
11. THIRD-PARTY LINKS
The App contains links to third-party websites operated by study organizers and by public research directories. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties. We are not responsible for their content, practices, or privacy policies.
12. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted in the App and take effect on the date noted at the top of the updated policy. Your continued use of the App after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
